Course Outline The course consists of 4 lecture hours 2 classes of 2 hours each per week. The basic thrust of the course would be to study probability and stochastic processes and to learn their applications to computer science. We will try to stick to the basic course outline as given in this page. B4 Introduction to Probability Theory P. Hoel, S.

In this article, we bring out explicit formulas relating the border of a CCS to its probability measure. As a consequence, we show that some natural operations on CCS - for example, the Minkowski sum - have natural translations in terms of probability measure operations, and reciprocally, the convolution of measures translates into a new notion of convolution of CCS. Finally, we employ this correspondence to present models of smooth random CCS and simulations. MR Zbl Notes Math.

The fundamental character and spirit of this classic remain unchanged, but there are up-dated, revised, and new materials. This volume features typically thorough coverage--both applied and abstract--of the most "popular" densities, along with the measure-theocratic bases of the theory.

An Introduction to Probability Theory and Its Applications uniquely blends a comprehensive overview of probability theory with the real-world application of that theory. Beginning with the background and very nature of probability theory, the book then proceeds through sample spaces, combinatorial analysis, fluctuations in coin tossing and random walks, the combination of events, types of distributions, Markov chains, stochastic processes, and more. The book's comprehensive approach provides a complete view of theory along with enlightening examples along the way.
